Top Ten Tuesday #4

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

This Week's Top Ten is: Authors Who Deserve More Recognition

Ok, so this week I only did five because I couldn't think of ten. It's not that there aren't a ton more authors I adore, but these were the only ones I could think of that I feel aren't as well known as they should be. And please remember that this is all subjective. For all I know these authors are better known than I realize. Once again I have listed them in no particular order.

Jackie Morse Kessler
Jackie Morse Kessler has written both young adult books and adult books (under the name Jackie Kessler), but I have only read her young adult series, The Riders of the Apocalypse. These books are amazing! They are beautifully written, interesting, and manage to deal honestly with real problems teens (and adults) face in there lives. I loved all of these books so much, but the last in the series, 'Breath', is remarkable. I reviewed it a couple of weeks ago and have a giveaway going for a signed copy here to help spread the joy of her awesomeness.

Tabitha Suzuma
I just finished Tabitha Suzuma's 'Forbidden' and reviewed it here. This is the first book I have read by Suzuma. Before a friend recommended this book I had never heard of Tabitha Suzuma. I looked into her and saw that she has more books published that I need to get my paws on as soon as possible. 'Forbidden' blew me away with its complexity and brutal honesty. It was beautifully written and I cannot wait to read more from her.

Katja Millay
I recently read and reviewed Katja Millay's 'The Sea of Tranquility' here. I absolutely loved this book. I know Millay has gained some recognition in our book blog world, but I had to request that they order her book at the library when they have almost everything the day it comes out. I am not so sure the rest of the world knows about her like we do. Her debut though was outstanding. I suspect it is only a matter of time until she starts releasing more books and becomes known in the mainstream, but for now she gets put on this list.

Katie McGarry
This one I'm not totally sure about. Don't get me wrong, I adore Katie McGarry. I reviewed 'Pushing the Limits' here and recently got 'Dare You To from the library to read and review. I am a big fan of McGarry's. The thing I am unsure about is what amount of recognition she has received. I know she is well known in the book blog world, but I have no idea how well known she is outside of our world. I added her though because I love her writing and she isn't like Stephen King big.

B.N Mauldin
I Recently won this book in a giveaway from goodreads. I couldn't find a picture of B.N. Mauldin so I used her book cover. I LOVED this book. It's a quick read, but original and intriguing. I recently reviewed it and am giving away a copy here to help spread the word of her awesomeness. I also found out since choosing her for this list I will be doing a blog tour interview with her in August.

What author would you include on this list?
